The mindful leader has an ability to present. You are probably thinking of some leaders you know who have impactful presence. They shift the room when they walk in. A mindful leader is a present leader, absolutely in the moment, asking internally: “How am I showing up right now”? “Am I here and present”? “Am I allowing my emotions to flow easily or am I contracting”? “Am I leading for the good of all or for my personal agenda because my ego is here”? “Am I being congruent with what this business situation needs”? “Am I avoiding conflict, or creating conflict”? “Am I conscious or running on autopilot”?
The mindful leader is able to create conditions for what really wants to happen: on a project in the world in a movement. It’s about being aware of the truth in the moment. How you are leading people and having the agility to adapt to current conditions. Mindful leaders stay focused on the goal, but adapt and innovate when necessary.
The mindful leader is a connected leader, connected to self, and others. Connection is the primary goal of the mindful leader. We’re all connected as individuals. There is no separation. The mindful leader creates conditions for people to connect in an organization. Once we’re connected, we collaborate, creativity runs and innovation happens.
